Diatomaceous earth is perhaps the best natural anti-parasitic medication (with side-effects like enhanced detoxification and glowing skin, radiant hair and strong nails).  It is a pesticide that does not harm people or pets.  It kills insects, worms and parasites physically with sharp edges or by dehydrating them.  

Diatomaceous earth speeds healing and acts as an anti-inflammatory.  It reduces risks of cholesterol, high blood pressure and obesity, balances intestinal bacteria and kills parasites, helps sequester and eliminate toxins, reduces bronchial inflammation, kidney and urinary infections, irregular bowels, as well as assists with vertigo, headaches, tinnitus and insomnia.

Diatomaceous earth was originally mined as "tooth powder" and is a hydrated silica.  It forms a fine gel with mild abrasive qualities (to us).  To microscopic critters, it is very sharp,  Silicon is a combination of silicon and oxygen, the two most abundant elements on our planet.  

It is within the grass that herbivores eat, though meat eating animals have much less.  Silica is found in many vegetables including leafy greens and onions as well as whole grains.

Diatomaceous earth magnified 7000 times looks like cylinders full of holes (kind of like Rice Chex Cereal). This cylinder has a very strong negative charge. 

As these millions of cylinders move through the digestive tract, they attract and absorb fungi, protozoa, viruses, endotoxins, pesticides, drug residues, E.coli as well as heavy metals. 

These are trapped inside the cylinder and passed out of the body as indigestible fiber.  Besides that, any larger parasites that happen to be in the digestive tract are "cut up" and killed by its sharp edges.

When used on ants, it usually takes only 20 minutes before they are all dead. One tablespoon of diatomaceous earth taken by an adult, once a day for seven days, is believed to be extremely effective for killing all parasites. 

When it is used on children, height is a better indicator of the size of the intestinal tract than weight.  A child who is 4 feet tall takes 2 teaspoons, and a 2 foot tall child takes 1 teaspoon.

If you take diatomaceous earth, then use food grade. Industrial diatomaceous earth is used for swimming pool filters, and has been chemically treated.  Avoid rubbing it onto your hands, since it will be drying.  Diatomaceous earth contains heavy metals as part of its minerals, but it also has selenium, which allows heavy metals to be moved and eliminated.  

A small amount of diatomaceous earth gets absorbed as silica.  Chemically, silica is an oxide of silicon (silicon dioxide), and is insoluble in water.  When associated with metals or minerals, silicates are formed. 

 Water soluble forms of silica exist; silicic acid (ortho, meta, di and tri-silicates), 1-100 mg/L.  Orthosilicic acid augments stomach acid and is the form mostly absorbed.  Orthosilicic acid stimulates collagen type 1 in osteoblast cells and enhances their differentiation.  Silica is in many tissues (skin, hair, nails, teeth, bone, tendons, aorta, liver and kidney). 

Silica is one of the most abundant minerals, but there are very few foods that supply silica.  It is unclear how silica is important in nutrition.  Silica is ubiquitous and it mostly dissolves in trace quantities.  Silica does occur in the body, but it is difficult to create silica-free controls.

Silica energizes immunity.  The buffering effect of diatomaceous earth is important to immunity.  Silica is needed to make antibodies and antigens.  Consuming silica (along with healthy dietary choices and exercise) helps restore pH buffers.

Silica is used by every cell and all glands.  Silica has a major impact on the cardiovascular system as well as the central nervous system.  Both rely on calcium and magnesium for the optimal transmission of impulses.

Calcium is commonly believed to be the most important mineral for bones, although it is really silica.  Silica promotes healing via collagen production.  Collagen is the strong rubbery protein that bones are built on.  Silica also regulates calcium levels and is vital to prevent osteoporosis. 

Collagen is the tough fibrous material that both guides building and holds us together.  Silica promotes (and is needed for collagen and elastin) normal growth and repair.  Silica promotes balance between calcium and magnesium.  And minerals support balanced hormones.  

Hormonal imbalances (linked with the metabolic switch from fitness to flabbiness - making fat and storing fat and toxins) create osteoporosis (thinner muscles, drier thinner skin, fragile nails and less glow as well as a stressed biofilm that generates a different aura) and other forms of  aging at any age.

Aging allows joint deterioration, brittle bones, hardening arteries, thinning dry skin, inability to digest fully, weakened teeth and gums and atrophying organs. These signs are due to less water-holding collagen. 

When young, we are more hydrated, silica is high and our bones and joints are more flexible. Our skin is supple and glowing.  Hydration and silica decline with age and we show signs like joint disease, weakened digestion and wrinkled skin. 

Silica suspensions are very stabile in solutions at high salt concentrations.  Silica molecules stabilize water molecules and lead to greater hydration.

Silica helps to transport heavy metals, including aluminum safely out of the body via the urine.  Both inappropriate tissue calcification and Alzheimer’s are linked to high aluminum.

The aluminum and lead in diatomaceous earth is not really a concern since even more goes out.  Taking selenium (400 mcg) for a week or so after stopping boosts glutathione helps the body flush. 

Since heavy metals are invisible to us but attract parasites, follow a parasite cleanse with a metal cleanse.  Diatomaceous earth is likely the best overall parasite treatment, because it can also kill blood-borne parasites.  When using it, drink lots of fluid, it dehydrates considerably.

Diatomaceous earth and coconut oil make a skin-softening insect-repellant UV screen that kills mites (Morgonellon's) and all kinds of microscopic pathogens.  Chrysanthemum tea powder, powdered tangerine peel, neem and/or green tea powder potentiate the mix.
